How can I prove/verify that inherited chairs (grandfather was in House of Representatives at the time) came from Ford Theater during President Lincoln's time?

Our grandfather claims the six chairs passed down to various family members came from Ford Theater after it closed (five remaining).  The story is that the chairs were in the Presidential Box, but replaced with more comfortable chairs whenever President Lincoln attended.  If our grandfather bought them from the government, would there be any way to prove the story?
