Dear Ms. Knabb,
Thank you for posting your request to History Hub!
We searched the Records of the Bureau of Naval Personnel (Record Group 24) and located the series titled Muster Rolls and Personnel Diaries of U.S. Navy Ships, Stations, and Other Naval Activities , 1/1/1949 - 12/31/1971 that includes muster rolls for VR-7. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
RDT2 does not have custody of U.S. Navy operational records for that time period. For access to these records, please contact the Operational Archives Branch, Naval History & Heritage Command, 805 Kidder Breese Street, SE, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC 20374-5060.
According to SECNAV 5210.1, flight logs, passenger manifests, and aircraft crew lists are not considered permanent records.
There is a website that does contain some information about VR-7. It is a private website run by volunteers.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
