I am searching for a listing of ships that carried slaves from Richmond, Virginia to the other southern ports, specifically the Port of New Orleans.

          Dear Mr. Lewis,

Thank you for contacting the History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located several series of Slave Manifests that may be of interest to you in the Records of the of the U.S. Customs, Service (Record Group 36) from the Ports of New Orleans, Philadelphia, Charleston, Beaufort, Savannah, Annapolis, New York, and Mobile. Some of these ships may have originated in Richmond. Please contact the National Archives unit that has custody of these manifests for more information.

In addition, please contact the Library of Virginia for a search of their collections about the slave trade in and out of Richmond.

We hope that this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
