2 people found this helpfulDear Mr. Partlow,
We suggest that you still contact the National Archives at St. Louis using the SF 180 available at https://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/standard-form-180.html. If your parent (the child of the veteran) is still living, ask him/her to sign the SF 180. If the son/daughter has passed away, then explain that on the form and state that you are the grandson of the veteran. Please send a copy of any information you have to document your claim such as the death certificate of the veteran and your parent and your birth certificate.
If you have any additional questions, please contact the National Archives at St. Louis, P.O.Box 38757, St. Louis, MO 63138 or via email at stl.archives@nara.gov.
We hope that this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
