Re: 1852 Naturalization Records Baltimore

3 people found this helpfulDear Ms. Golden,
Naturalization records filed in federal courts are normally found in National Archives field offices. The records related to the card you found are held by the National Archives at Philadelphia. However, these records are merely naturalization registers, not the declaration of intention or the petition for naturalization. The court did not retain duplicate copies of these records. Instead, the court kept a record that only contained the name, country of origin, name of document filed, and the date filed. If you wish to receive a copy of this record you can send an email to philadelphia.archives@nara.gov.

gramssearch Nov 17, 2017 6:26 AM (in response to pconnell)Thanks so much! I have a copy of the Index Card for this naturalization. From what you wrote, it sounds like anything the NARA would have would be the same information with nothing else? Is this correct? Thanks again!

1 person found this helpfulThat is correct, the record we hold has the same information as the index card. The cards were made from the registers.
