1 person found this helpfulDepending on where you’re located, most states didn’t start standardizing birth or death records until around 1911. You can get records after that date from your state Vital Records Department. Before that, check local historical societies and churches where the family members resided. For information about their death, search through old death notices and obituaries; many of these are indexed and searchable in online newspaper databases.
Photos and other images of our ancestors are always the most elusive. Check with other family members. Also, look through old county histories, such as those by Goodspeed Publishing.
