1 person found this helpfulIn response to your query, we would first suggest requesting the personnel file from the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO. You can fill out the request online here. Provide as much information as you can. You will need to print, sign, and mail or fax in your request. This will help you determine whether he served in the military.
Further information that may help you with your search might also be found on the National Archives’ Genealogy Resources page.
The holdings of the National Archives are historical records of the federal government, so they generally do not contain current information about individuals. You may want to check for sources either online or at your local library, which could provide tips on locating living individuals. One example you may find useful is Richard S. Johnson’s How to Locate Anyone Who Is or Has Been in the Military, Eighth Edition (Fort Sam Houston, TX: Military Information Enterprises, 1999). This is just one example - there may be other books or articles that would be useful for your search as well.
