2 people found this helpfulMr. Morton,
Thank you for your question to History Hub. While we were unable to locate anything regarding Dr. Atkinson in our records, a cursory search reveals two good primary sources from his past.
The first, his yearbook entry from his 1925 graduation from the Howard University School of Medicine, can be found at http://dh.howard.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1104&context=bison_yearbooks. It is possible their university archive may feature more information about such an auspicious alumnus.
A second source, touting his ascendancy to the presidency of National Medical Association, can be found at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2617034/pdf/jnma00628-0051.pdf. It features some good information about his practice in Coatesville.
Finally, Clement-Atkinson Memorial Hospital in Coatesville is still in existence and seems interested in fostering continued recognition of its main namesake. Contact information for them is at W.C. Atkinson Memorial Hospital.
Best of luck on your continued search.
