    Seeking records of a Norwegian immigrant deportation

      Where can I find records showing the reason for a Norwegian immigrant being deported from the US in 1927? I have a case number from the departure document of the boat leaving from Norway to the USA in 1924 stating the person was deported from the US in 1927.

          We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Subject and Policy Files, 1893-1957 in the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (Record Group 85) that includes the file unit case number for the file of interest. Some of these records have been digitized and are available using the Catalog. For more information about the non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at archives1reference@nara.gov and include the case file number in your request.
