1 person found this helpfulDear Kimberly,
It's unfortunate that you haven't had any luck yet with California records, but the information you're looking for would most likely be in local (city/county) or state records. If you haven't done so already, you might try contacting some of the organizations I've listed below:
- The California State Archives lists the resources they have for researching family history: Genealogical and Family History Resources - California State Archives - California Secretary of State
- The California State Archives also holds some county and city records, and the website also includes a PDF of a history of county archives that might be helpful: County and City Records | California Secretary of State
- Probate records for the county of San Francisco are held by the Superior Court of California, and their website has some information for researchers:Civil Records | Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco
- The History Center at the San Francisco Public Library offers information about researching historical topics, including vital records, related to the city/county: San Francisco History Ctr. :: SFPL :: San Francisco Public Library Mobile
Additionally, the National Archives at San Francisco (located in San Bruno) holds federal (not state or local) court records for the region. You can find more information about their holdings here: The National Archives at San Francisco | National Archives You can also email them directly at: sanbruno.archives@nara.gov
