How to filter 1950 census results based on Gender, Race, and Age?

    Jamel Criswell Newbie

How do I filter census results based on Gender, Race, and Age. I only see filters by name, city & state. Also is there a way to only have records display the exact spelling of a name.  Please help. I am getting way to many results on my searches and I would like to narrow down my results on my searches. Thank you

          Dear Jamel Criswell:

There are no filters for gender, race, or age.  The name search returns both exact and similar results (which is not necessarily a bad thing, since the optical character recognition software did not generate perfect results - and not all census enumerators spelled everybody's name perfectly, either).  If you are looking for a specific individual and have some idea where lived (street or specific address) click on "ED Maps" for any ED in that county or large city and you will be able to look at the Enumeration District maps for that county or city.  I hope this is helpful.
