Re: Seeking information about Daniel King who was killed in railroad accident

Dear Ms. Dobson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We have searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Railroad Accident Investigation Reports, 1911 - 1963 in the Records of the Interstate Commerce Commission (Record Group 134), but were unable to locate a report for an accident on the Missouri Pacific Railroad Railroad dated 1895. The ICC did not investigate individual railroad accidents before 1911.
The Missouri Pacific Railroad was merged into the Union Pacific Railroad in 1997. You may wish to contact the Union Pacific Railroad to inquire about historical records of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. However, please note that per their Frequently Asked Questions page they do not have historical information about employees. They recommend that you contact railroad historical societies, but the Missouri Pacific Historical Society says that they do not have personnel files either. It is not clear from the websites whether either organization might have information specifically related to deaths and accidents even if they do not have files about personnel in general.
If you can find out where the accident took place, you may wish to contact local courts and law enforcement to inquire about historical accident investigation records.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
