Problems saving or reserving pages?

Hi volunteers!

In recent months we have occasionally heard from volunteers who were unable to work on a page due to a "reservation error" or who lost work in progress due to a page error. If this has happened to you please let us know about it! We are currently investigating the problem, but need more information to determine exactly what is going on and how to fix it.

If you experience issues saving or see a "reservation error" appear in a red band across the page, please let us know by posting in this thread or emailing crowd@loc.gov. The following information would be helpful to us:

URL of the page you were on
Date/approximate time of the issue
What browser and type of device you were using
What specific actions you took or if there was something you tried to do but were unable
Take a screenshot of the error you see if possible!

I have experienced this a few times. The most notable and most recent was as noted below (note all times are PST):

Browser: Safari v. 15.1 - Macbook

Date/Time/Description:
Incomplete French newspaper text requested to be transcribed Feb 9 5:32 AM PST.
I started Feb 9, some time around 10 AM PST. Over the course of the day I transcribed the entire French article, saving multiple times throughout, finishing with it fully transcribed and saved as "in progress" at approximately 9:15 PM PST.
The next AM all my work had been reverted to the incomplete/incorrect text there previously - time approximately February 10, 8:30 AM PST.

Actions: Nothing could be done but to transcribe it all again.

Date/Time/Description:
Began editing "in progress" page around 10:15 PM PST. on Sunday FEB 20.
Saved multiple times over +/- 10 minutes - all changes accepted. Many changes made throughout document.
On last save at 10:26 PM PST FEB 20 it refused to save, said another user was editing the document. Document reverted back to the condition at which I had started - all interim saves were voided.

Actions: Nothing could be done. Re-transcribed. Very frustrating to lose all the work.
