    Roosevelt Papers - St Loe Strachey signature symbol

      In transcribing Roosevelt papers there is a robust amount of correspondence with John St Loe Strachey - owner of "The Spectator."  He routinely signs with name and an acronym or symbol that I cannot make out.  Examples are linked below. I know he was a British journalist and son of Sir Edward Strachey (3rd Baronet), but as a junior son he did not inherit the title of Baronet.  This writing is a mystery - can anyone help?
