Seeking records of 3497th Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company

    Eugene Michael Osland Newbie

I am working on the history of my uncle, Harold Paul Haedt, during his almost three years in the 3497th Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance  company which was attached to the 1st Engineer Special Brigade.  I know that he was involved with the invasions of Sicily, Italy, and Utah Beach on D-day.  It would be helpful to find a unit history of the 3497th Ordnance MAM, or after action reports, and rosters.

          Dear Mr. Osland,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1917 - 1985 (Record Group 407) that includes a company history of the 3497th Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company in file ORCP-3497-03. We also  located a series titled Unit Histories, 1943 - 1967 in the Records of U.S. Army Operational, Tactical, and Support Organizations (World War II and Thereafter) (Record Group 338) that includes the 3 files for the unit. For more information about these non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov
