Seeking records of unit my father served in before 332nd Engineer Aviation Battalion

    Steve Warnke Newbie

My father was in the 332nd Engineer Aviation Battalion at Ft. Lenard Wood, MO in 1951.   He served overseas in Japan before he arrived at Fort Leonard Wood.   I have his DD-214 form, dog tag and patches. We are trying give my Father a proper burial and put on his marker the unit he served in while in Japan.  Unfortunately, all the records in St. Louis burned in a fire.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

          Dear Mr. Warnke,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

Where and what unit he transferred from may be located in the 332nd Engineer Battalion morning report or roster. Morning reports from November 1, 1912 to 1959 and copies of most of the monthly rosters from 1947 - 1959 for Army units are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL). For more information about these non-digitized records, please contact RL-SL via email at stl.archives@nara.gov.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RL-SL. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family researcher!
