US Navy personell records 1860 to 1870

Looking for Robert King, Union Navy Civil War era. From Prince William Co, VA. Joined Navy prior to Civil War. Murdered in Fredericksburg, VA about 1870 by unknown persons. Wife Matilda King sought Veteran Widow Pension.

James check out this discussion How do I access Civil War records? How do i verify an ancester who served in the Civil War on the Union side and see if the advice I give for finding older military personnel records is helpful. Specifically the part about requesting military service records in the last paragraph.
