Seeking 1946 report by Major George J. McNally

    Robert Yalden Newbie

      Greetings,

In the book Krueger's Men (about Nazi counterfeit) by Lawrence Malkin a reference was made:

Major George J. McNally, Currency Branch, U.S. Seventh Army, Report, 24 January 1946, p. 3, NARA, RG 226, entry 155, boxes 2-3 (hereafter cited as the McNally Report.

Can anyone please help me find George McNally's report?

      Thanks in advance!

          Dear Mr. Yalden,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located Program Files, 1943 - 1945 (Entry UD 155) in the Records of the Office of Strategic Services (Record Group 226) that includes reports relating to Bernhard Krueger and German forgery operations and may include a copy of the McNally Report. We are attaching the finding aid for this series to the end of our response. For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at Archives2reference@nara.gov.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
