Dear Ms. Goshin,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you take a look at the passenger arrival list for the major ports (Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New Orleans) of the United States that immigrants traveled through in addition to the Port of New York. NARA holds passenger and crew lists for vessels arriving at these major ports that were created as a part of the records of the U. S. Customs Service (RG 36) and as a part of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (RG 85). For more information we suggest you check out NARA’s holdings Immigration records and passenger records.
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Subject and Policy Files, 1893-1957 in the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (Record Group 85) that includes the file unit Statistics on Aliens Admitted to the United States. Some of these records have been digitized and are available using the Catalog. For more information about the non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at Washington, DC - Textual Reference (RDT1) via email at email@example.com.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT1. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Additionally you may wish to reach out to cultural institutions and historical societies that have documented Armenian Americans immigration and history. You may wish to take a look at the wiki for Armenian Societies , the Armenian Museum of America and the New York Public Library all have information that may be of interest to your research.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
I think the easiest way if you have access to Ancestry.com (paid research site) or Ancestryinstitution.com (free at many public libraries) is to go to "passenger lists" on the search for the site and only enter "Armenia" as the place of birth with no other information. In addition to NY (Ellis Island), passenger arrival records for Armenians came up for Philadelphia, New Orleans, Canada, Detroit, Rhode Island, California, Florida, Massachusetts, and a surprising number, in my opinion, arriving in Hawaii.
