Was Rudolf Klein-Rogge a Nazi Party member?

    Leslie Zupan Newbie

I am researching the famous German silent film star, Rudolf Klein-Rogge, who starred in many of the most important Weimar era films such as Metropolis.  He is alleged to have been a member of the Nazi Party, and I would like confirmation whether he was or not, and if so, when and where did he join. His legal name was Friedrich Rudolf Klein, born in Cologne on November 24, 1885. Thank you

          Dear Ms. Zupan,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Records Relating to the Activities of the Reichskulturkammer (RKK) (Microfilm Publication A3339) in the National Archives Collection of Foreign Records seized (Record Group 242) that contains personnel files relating to applicants and members of the Reichskulturkammer and its affiliated organizations like the Reichfilmkammer (Reich Film Chamber [RFK]). We also located the series Records Relating to Membership in the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) (Microfilm Publication A3340) and the series List of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) Applicants in Record Group 242. There may be references to Rudolf Klein-Rogge in one or more of these series. These records have not been digitized. Please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) at archives2reference@nara.gov for information about these and similar records.
