I am assuming that "strategic intervention" as an approach in Science is relatively new. I am afraid myself and the colleagues I have contacted are at a loss to help you. What grade level are you talking about? Or are you talking about scientific research?
There are what seem like great articles and illustrations of the use of the approach in Science to be found in a regular Google search, but I am definitely not qualified to recommend any particular sources or discuss whether or not the educational community is currently advocating it's use, although I can't imagine why not.
Perhaps there is some related information on the National Center for Science Education website (Home | NCSE) or the or on the National Education Association blog, such as the article at NEA - Improve Student Achievement in Science
