    Seeking information about WWI 97th

    Ben Forbes Newbie

Does a label of the 97th mean 97th Infantry?  I have a piece of military history from A. Hansen 97th from WWI.  I'm trying to figure out where to start.

      Any help? Thank you!

          Mr. Forbes:

"97th" could refer to the 97th Division which was formed in September 1918 and disbanded in December 1918 without every deploying

          Or to:

          97th Aero Squadron

          97th Engineers

          97th Transport Company

            Dear Mr. Forbes,

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

We are unable to offer a conclusive interpretation of the information you posted. The  “97th” may refer to the 97th Division or the 97th Depot Service & Labor Company or the 97th Prisoner of War Escort Company or the 97th Motor Repair Section or other types of units with the numerical designator “97th.”  It also may refer to something other than a unit designator.

Please provide more information about the military history you have in order for us to assist you with more suggestions.
