Seeking field records of Bureau of Navigation

    Joseph Duxbury Newbie

In Record Group 41 (Field Records of the Bureau of Navigation), there are abstracts and indexes of enrollments and registers, for US ports. What is the difference between abstracts and the indexes? Is more information given in the abstracts?
