Dear Mr. Blanchett,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Telephone Directories, 1933-1993 in the Records of the Tennessee Valley Authority (Record Group 142) that may contain the information you are searching for. The series Energy Research Staff Files, 1976-1984 and 3 additional series from the 1970s in Record Group 142 that were created by the TVA's Office of Power might be of interest to you, too. We also located 2 series and 85 file units related to Browns Ferry in Record Group 142. Some of these records have been digitized and may be viewed online in the Catalog. Please contact the National Archives at Atlanta (RE-AT) at email@example.com for access to and information about the non-digitized records.
For a slightly later time period, the series Human Resources Information System Files, 1985-2007 in Record Group 142 may be useful. These records have been digitized and can be accessed online via the Catalog. Please contact the National Archives at College Park - Electronic Records (RDE) at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions about these records.
If you are interested in the personnel file of a specific individual, we suggest that you request a copy of his/her Official Personnel File (OPF). OPFs and medical information for individuals who worked for the U.S. government in a civilian capacity since 1952 are in the custody of NARA's National Personnel Records Center Annex. Written requests may be mailed or faxed to National Personnel Records Center Annex, 1411 Boulder Boulevard, Valmeyer, IL 62295. The fax number is 618-935-3014. Please include the full name used during Federal employment, date of birth, Social Security Number (if applicable), name and location of the employing Federal agency, and beginning and ending dates of Federal service. Certain information in the OPF may not be available to the general public without the written consent of the individual. For more information, please check the Official Personnel Folders (OPF),Federal (non-archival) Holdings and Access website.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RE-AT or RDE. Also, the Civilian Personnel Records Center (CPR) in Valmeyer, IL closed on August 2, 2021 due to unsafe local public health metrics. The CPR still will maintain minimal staffing levels to support emergency reference requests only. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this information is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
