Seeking Index of Voice of America tapes

    Yael Netzer Newbie

Hi. I searched for an interesting catalogue for teaching purposes and found this Voice of America tapes index which fits my needs very much. The index (https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75598391) contains as many as 61646 items with lots of information, people and events. If I use it in my class (digital humanities), we will make an actual clean and neat list where all names are written in a uniform way, dates are proofed and fixed and more information is made explicit (subjects, locations, map etc). However, I am not sure if and how I may find information about each broadcast (or some of them) as an entry in the National Archive, or, in any other place. So for instance, one of the tapes in the index is 'Out of the Darkness" , which, if searched in the catalog retrieves https://catalog.archives.gov/id/1149847. I wonder if you know which (i.e. what is the criteria) of the tapes in the index are to be found, or if I can search for those items, perhaps the audio, in additional places?

Will a neat, enriched and linked index of those tapes can be of benefit to anyone?  I will teach in a summer school in August 2021, which will take place in Leipzig. Thank you very much.
