Dear Jimmy Cooley,
Thank you for posting your request to History Hub!
We suggest that you start your research at the Louisiana Digital Library. The LDL has thousands of digitized historical documents from Louisiana archives, libraries, and museums, including a map we found of American Indian tribes in Louisiana as of 1700. In addition, Louisiana State University Library has Indigenous Materials in Special Collections, which lists the tribes of Louisiana, their history, and additional resources.
We also suggest consulting the Louisiana State Archives, which houses documents, photographs, and more pertaining to Louisiana’s state and government history. Their collections can be searched online through the Louisiana State Archives Catalog.
The National Archives has custody of American Indian records as early as 1774 through the mid 1990s. If your research potentially intersects with the U.S. Federal Government, the American Indian Records in the National Archives is a great place to start your federal research.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
