Welcome to History Hub
I may have found a clue. Is the name Catharina Wik familiar to you.
Dear Robert Brown,
Thank you for posting your request to History Hub!
We suggest that you review NARA’s Resources for Genealogists, as well as the History Hub Blog titled Suggestions and Advice for Family History Researchers. Also, the FamilySearch Research wiki for United States Genealogy and Germany Genealogy may be useful.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
It is highly doubtful in my opinion. Henry Brown (Braun) of Frederick Co, Maryland was baptized at Salem German Reformed Church in Washington Co., MD on 23 May 1773 (born 8 Jan 1773), which means his parents or grandparents were the immigrants. His parents were Henrich Braun & Maria Salome. Johannes Braun of Elsdorf, according to your question was born a century after Henry Brown's parents. Braun is an extremely common German surname.
