First off, thanks for using History Hub. Next-of-kin of deceased service members can request the personnel files from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis. For more information, you can see Start Your Military Service Record (DD Form 214) Request on the National Archives website. This page details what you'll need to complete the form, as well as links to the online request page.
For general records on the First Special Service Force, you might try our National Archives Catalog. There might be some records for the time period you're looking at our branch in College Park which holds military records from World War I on. Archives2reference@nara.gov is the email for that location, and they'd be happy to help you locate any general information on the First Special Service Force.
Best of luck in your hunt!

1 person found this helpfulHi, Ramona,
I hope you've been able to find the information you were looking for using Ann's earlier suggestions. Just in case you're looking for further information, though, I wanted to offer a couple of additional suggestions.
1. The First Special Service Force (FSSF) has recently updated its website First Special Service Force - Home and there may be information or resources there that could be helpful to you.
2. I have done some preliminary research into the FSSF myself, and the links below are to a few series at Archives II (email: Archives2reference@nara.gov) that I found that contain information about the Force. These records do not necessarily include a great deal of information about personnel, but they do offer some insight into the history and other aspects of the FSSF.
