Dear George Waldroup,
Thank you for posting your question on History Hub!
A precursory search of the NARA catalog using the key words "Dalag Luft POW" returned the following results: https://catalog.archives.gov/search?q=DULAG%20LUFT%20POW&rows=20 . There are many record groups that may contain information about American POWs at Dalag Luft sites. Some of these have been digitized and are available online. One Item of interest would be This Report on American POWs in Germany from 1945 ( https://catalog.archives.gov/id/893506 ) which is part of Record Group 389, Records of the Office of the Provost Marshal General 1920-1975.
For each of these items on the NARA Catalog, you can find the contact information of the facility at which the records are housed in cases where the records have not yet been digitized.
We hope this information helps with your research!
Dear Mr. Waldroup,
We located some additional information that may be helpful for your research.
A number of series in the National Archives Collection of Foreign Records Seized (Record Group 242) may be of interest to you. The series Translations of Downed Allied Aircraft Reports and the series Translations of Correspondence Concerning Property of Allied Prisoners of War, for example, contain translations of German records from Dulag Luft. These records have not been digitized. We also identified multiple series of Downed Allied Aircraft Reports in Record Group 242 that might be relevant to your research. Many of these reports have been digitized and may be viewed online using the Catalog. Please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance with these records.
Another series that has been digitized and is available in the Catalog is the Missing Air Crew Reports (MACRs), 1942 - 1947 from the Records of the Office of the Quartermaster General (Record Group 92), which includes 568 references to Dulag Luft that may be useful for your research.
The series Card List of Names of American Airmen Held in POW Camps, 1943-1945 in the Records of Headquarters, European Theater of Operations, United States Army (World War II) (Record Group 498) also includes records related to prisoners held at Dulag Luft. These records have not been digitized, and you may email RDT2 with any questions you might have about them.
In addition, the series European Name Index to the Series "Case Files, 1944-1949" in the Records of the Office of the Judge Advocate General (Army) (Record Group 153) contains 70 references to Dulag Luft. This index has been digitized and can be viewed online via the Catalog. It relates to a number of other non-digitized series in Record Group 153, particularly the series Case Files, 1944-1949. Again, please contact RDT2 for further information.
Finally, you may also wish to review the series Records of World War II Prisoners of War, created, 1942 - 1947, documenting the period 12/7/1941 - 11/19/1946 in the National Archives’ Access to Archival Databases (AAD) that contains 678 records related to Dulag Luft that can be viewed online.
Again, we hope this information is helpful, and best of luck with your ongoing research!
