Dear Mr. Sciannameo,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series Copies of Italian Military Records and the series Copies of Records of the Italian Armed Forces in the National Archives Collection of Foreign Records Seized (Record Group 242) that may be of interest to you. These records are part of Microfilm Publication T821, and you can access the Guide to Microfilm Publication T821 Collection of Italian Military Records, 1935-1943 online. The records themselves have not been digitized. Please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RTD2) at firstname.lastname@example.org for access to and information about these records.
We also located the series Royal Italian Navy War Diary and Related Documentation, 6/1/1940-10/31/1942 in the Records of the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations that may be relevant to your research. These records have not been digitized. You may contact RDT2 with any questions you may have about these records.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
In addition, FamilySearch provides this Guide to Italian Military Records that might be useful for you. Finally, you may also wish to contact the Italian Naval History Office - Marina Militare to see if they can offer any additional assistance.
We hope this information is helpful, and best of luck with your research!
