Seeking employee records of Norfolk Navy Yard

    Brian Baird Newbie

I am trying to find employee records of Norfolk Navy Yard in Portsmouth, VA, specifically during WWII.  Norfolk Navy Yard is the former Gosport Navy Yard and is currently known as Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!

The Norfolk Navy Yard records mostly fall under the custody of the National Archives at Philadelphia regional office. You may want to start with a search in our catalog for Norfolk Navy Yard employee records. Once you find a few record series that might contain the name of the employee you are looking for you can reach out to the Philadelphia office for a search. If you don’t find anything in the catalog reach out to them anyway. They should be familiar enough with these records to let you know how to proceed.
