Thank You Susannah for the lead. I will research those records.
Dear Mr. Hoover,
Thank you for posting your question on History Hub.
You may wish to search Ancestry.com or FamilySearch.org for information on where Mr. Jefferson Hoover was living after his release from the Louisiana State Insane Asylum. There may be a fee for using Ancestry. Instead, please check for access at your local library as many library systems subscribe to these sites, making them free for their patrons.
We also suggest that you review NARA’s Resources for Genealogists, as well as the FamilySearch Research wiki for United States Genealogy. In addition, the document Suggestions and Advice for Family History Researchers may be useful in your search.
The Federal government does not ordinarily create or maintain death or burial records. Such records are made and kept by state and local governments rather than the National Archives. Assuming Mr. Hoover died and was buried in Louisiana, we suggest searching the Louisiana Deaths, 1850-1875, 1894-1960 index and contacting the Louisiana Vital Records Office for a search of their holdings.
We hope this information is helpful in your search.
