Re: seeking B-29 plane crash report for Garth Doyle 1947?
Elliot Schneider Apr 22, 2021 10:46 AM (in response to Glenda Gray)Glenda,
Is this your relative? If you could provide more information on Garth Doyle such as DOB, and place it might help with my search. Found also a different Garth C. Doyle he was a CPT on a B29 that went down in china but in 1944. Are you firm on your date of this being after the war that the incident took place.

Re: seeking B-29 plane crash report for Garth Doyle 1947?
Glenda Gray Apr 22, 2021 1:02 PM (in response to Glenda Gray)Hello, he was born October 21, 1919 in Stuttgart Arkansas. I know for certain that he died after the war. My mother still talks about how devastated everyone was that he lived through the war only to die during peace time. There's also a story that he and his crew obtained a pig and flew him to their base so they could have a barbecue. They had to share their oxygen with the pig so he wouldn't die at altitude. If I remember correctly I think they got in a bit of trouble for that stunt. I have always been curious about what brought his plane down. I do believe the picture above has him in it. I can't see the faces clearly to see which one he is, but I remember vaguely hearing something about this event. Thanks so Much.
