Dear Paul Chatelier,
Thank you for posting your question on History Hub! The National Archives website has a great resource for people interested in Civil War Records. If you go to this link, Civil War, you will find information about different types of Civil War records located at the National Archives. The website should also have information on how to find the records once you decide which records interest you the most.
The Textual Reference Branch (RDT1) at the National Archives at Washington, D.C. may also have additional information for you. You can contact them by sending an email to email@example.com.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Dear Mr. Chatelier
Southern Civil War records can be especially difficult to locate. I suggest contacting The United Daughters of The Confederacy. If the cannot immediately help, they may well be able to point you in the right direction.
Thank you Dan,
I will do that. Do you happen to know where their headquarters is?
Dear Mr. Chatelier,
The contact information for the United Daughters of the Confederacy is available on their website. If you are interested in Confederate records, we also suggest that you contact individual state archives and historical societies in addition to reviewing the resources available at the National Archives link above.
We hope this additional information is helpful!
I am very close to Washington so if the internet fails I will physically go there.
