The Center for Legislative Archives holds the official records of U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. The Center does not hold private and personal papers of senators and representatives or their staff. The staff files we do have at the Center are committee files. The Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 provided that a legislator's committee staff and personal staff had to remain separate. If you’d like information relating to a specific committee staff member’s working file, please contact our reference staff at email@example.com or (202) 357-5350 for further assistance.
The Congressional Directory, the official directory of the U.S. Congress, lists administrative assistants and/or secretaries. GPO’s FDsys contains directories for the 104th (1995-96) Congress forward. Directories prior to the 104th Congress are available at your local Federal Depository Library. You may also use the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress to locate members’ papers, and perhaps locate information related their staff.
