    Seeking records about Milton Helmick & William Douglas

      I am seeking records about Milton J. Helmick and William O. Douglas, as well as Carl A. Hatch, Whiting Willauer, Willis R. Peck, George Sellett, Henry P. Chandler, in 1945-1949.

            We searched the National Archives and the internet for records of the men you listed with the following results:

             

            Milton J. Helmick

            We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the series titled Official Files , 1945 - 1953 in the Official Files (Truman Administration) (Collection HST-OFF) that includes the file unit titled Helmick, Milton J., OF 2874. For more information about the file unit, please contact the Harry S. Truman Library (LP-HST) at truman.reference@nara.gov.

             

            Since he worked for the Standard Vacuum Oil Company in Shanghai from 1945 to 1951, there may be records pertaining to him in the ExxonMobil Historical Collection, 1790-2014 at the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin

             

            William O. Douglas

            We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 12 series, 401 file units, 72 items in various Record Groups and Collections that pertain to William O. Douglas during the 1940s and 1950s.             Carl A. Hatch

            We searched the National Archives Catalog but were unable to locate records pertaining to Willis R. Peck or Willys R. Peck during 1945-1949.

            George Sellett

            We searched the National Archives Catalog but were unable to locate records pertaining to George Sellett during 1945-1949.

             

            We located a letter to Dr. George Sellett at the University of Virginia Law Library and records relating to George Sellett on the Office of the Historian, Department of State website while he was the American Adviser to the Liquidation Commission for the International Settlement at Shanghai.

             

            Henry P. Chandler

            We searched the National Archives Catalog and located 8 series in the Records of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (Record Group 116) that pertain to Henry P. Chandler when he was the Director of the Administrative Office of the US Courts from 1939-1956.
