    Kersten Committee

    Raymond Marina Newbie

Is there any online access to submissions made in 1953 to the Kersten Committee?

Hi Raymond -- thanks for posting to History Hub!

At the Center for Legislative Archives we hold 49 boxes of textual records from the Select Committee on Communist Aggression -- also known as the Kersten Committee after the chair, Rep. Charles Kersten.

The committee held a series of hearings in the U.S. and Europe from November 1953 to December 1954 and published a lot of its activities in a series of 10 interim and 16 special reports. You can likely find the reports online through sites like Hathi Trust and Google Books.

The National Archives Catalog has a series description of these records, but the committee records are not digitized. You're welcome to email us at legislative.archives@nara.gov. We have a finding aid for these records we'd be happy to share.
