Dear Ms. Gunderson,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
Most cities and counties have yearly directories for residents. Some of these directories are indexed by address but most are alphabetically by last name. We suggest you consult the FamilySearch wiki on United States Directories for these resources.
We also suggest that you search the city directories available online from Ancestry or Fold3. There may be a fee for using these online services. Instead, please check for access at your local library as many library systems subscribe to these sites, making them free for their patrons.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
This looks like a great resource for many.
My address in the sixties was drilled into my head as a kindergarten assignment.
This is on little Santa Clara St. in San Luis Obispo.
Look in phone books for the area for the year or years you are interested in. Some old phone books are on-line and others might be in local libraries.
Just saw your post. Can you share the exact year, the county/state that the property was in and perhaps where the freeway is or perhaps the name of the street. If your family owned the home there should be a record of the sale to the state/county where it was located. There should be documentation somewhere. would you care to share their last name? The address may also be in your school records.
