Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a combination of ongoing conditions that affect the lungs and breathing. These conditions can include chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is possible that either chronic bronchitis or emphysema were listed on your physical upon your retirement from the Air Force. For more information, please view the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) available on the website of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
