Dear Mr. Schuch,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We suggest that you review the criteria for replacing a headstone on the Department of Veterans Affairs website.
We hope this is helpful.
Hey did you find the Louis/Lewis Schuch/Schuck that you have been looking for after we last spoke.
I am not sure how to message you privately rather than putting the reply here but here we go. Someone contacted the Historian of the State of WV and I talked to the Grafton National Cemetery. We were told that all Civil War Soldiers buried in WV were moved to Grafton National Cemetery ( Old one in town) in the 1890's I believe. All of the ones moved there were buried in graves marked unknown and no records remain on the names if they ever knew them. I was there several years ago so I did get to see his grave but I don't know which one it was. I am satisfied that he was buried there. Thanks again for all your help.
