1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Usin,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located a series titled the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks Program Records, 2013 - 2017 in the Records of the National Park Service (Record Group 79) that includes a file unit titled National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks Program Records: Florida with a digitized item Florida SP Castillo de San Marcos National Monument that may contain information or references for the information you seek. The digitized item is available via the Catalog.
We also searched ArchiveGrid and located 17 sources for the search “Fort Marion AND Apache” that may contain the information that you seek as a part of personal papers and photographs held in small archival collections. Next, we searched the Internet Archive and HathiTrust and located the books “Shame & endurance : the untold story of the Chiricahua Apache prisoners of war” and The Apache prisoners in Fort Marion, St. Augustine, Florida / by Herbert Welsh. that may be useful.
Lastly, we searched online and located several articles and other publications that might be of relevance to your research. They include:
- Apache Incarceration - Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (US National Park Service)
- From Fort Marion to Fort Sill: A Documentary History of the Chiricahua Apache Prisoners of War, 1886-1913
- Between Two Worlds: Indian Imprisonment at Castillo de San Marcos National Monument
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
