Dear Ms. Di Bartolo,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
The National Archives has in its custody records of the Records of the Office of the Provost Marshal General (Record Group 389) that include enemy POW camp files. These records consist mostly of camp inspection reports, camp labor reports, camp historical files, detention rosters, POW grave location reports, and Italian service unit reports. The records include minimal information about individual POWs. Not all of these reports or files were produced by each camp.
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the World War II Prisoner of War Rosters, 1942-1947; Records Relating to Italian Prisoners of War During World War II, 1942-1947; Records Relating to Enemy Prisoners of War During World War II, 1942-1947; Decimal Files, 1944-1945; and General Correspondence, 1942-1957 in Record Group 389 that may contain information of interest to you We also located 6 file units on Camp Clark in 3 different series in Record Group 389. For access to these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
Further, please note that personnel records of Italian prisoners of war have been returned to Italy. For further information please write to the Ministero della Difesa-Esercito, Direzione Generale dei Servize di Commissariato e Amministrativi, Via XX Settembre No. 11, Rome, Italy or contact them via their website at https://www.difesa.it/Pagine/default.aspx.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your family research!
