Grace Yuhasz Jan 31, 2021 5:50 PM (in response to Imelda Russell)1 person found this helpfulThere is a book free to view on FamilySearch.org entitled Livingston County, Illinois, in the World War by Winnie Sparks. She had the following paragraph (“M.C.” should stand for Medical Corps):
The above paragraph is on page 132. To see it, click on the above link, then go to image 149 of 696 (type 149 on the bottom right corner). You will need to register for a free FamilySearch account to view.
The book is great—besides biographical information for soldiers from the county, it has photos, and some neat items at the end of the book.
For more information, FamilySearch has a collection called United States, World War I, Military Muster Rolls and Rosters, 1916-1939. The records are grouped by Organization, then Company name, then from the oldest to newest. You have to go page by page. There is a page in between each company that says "New Orgn Begins".
The link below takes you to the overall search page where you can search for different units—you can use the Find button to search by the name/number. You may have to search more than one page to find the unit you are looking for (the arrow to go to another page is at the bottom of the list of units).

Imelda Russell Feb 23, 2021 3:10 PM (in response to Grace Yuhasz)Dear Grace,
Thank you so much. I had the first set of records but had not come across the book on Livingston County. The information was just what we needed.
Yours sincerely
