1 person found this helpfulDear Mr. Landreth,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We searched National Archives Catalog and located the World War II Operations Reports, 1940-1948 in the Records of the Adjutant General's Office, 1917-1985 (Record Group 407) that may include general orders of the 517th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the 463rd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, and the 596th Parachute Engineer Company. For information about these records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at archives2reference@nara.gov.
Morning reports for Army units from November 1, 1912 to 1959 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis (RL-SL). For access to these records, please contact RL-SL via email at stl.archives@nara.gov.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), NARA has adjusted its normal operations to balance the need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the recommended social distancing for the safety of NARA staff. As a result of this re-prioritization of activities, you may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgement as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2 and RL-SL. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!

mark landreth Jan 17, 2021 12:01 PM (in response to Elliot Schneider)Hi Elliott - My dad, at the beginning of his 30 year army career, served in E Co. of the 517th. I've secured many of his records and am trying to flesh out the collection. Am looking, especially, for the narratives on his Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars, along with the morning reports for E Co. Thanks for your interest! mark

mark landreth Jan 19, 2021 9:37 AM (in response to Elliot Schneider)Hi Elliott - His name was Landrum R. Landreth. Not sure what other info you need but his serial number was 34652356 and, for the most part during his time overseas, his rank was either SGT or TSGT. I think his MOS was 745 (platoon sergeant). Let me know if you need more. Thanks! mark
