How To: Use Login.gov with History Hub

Option 1: I have an existing History Hub account and want to start using Login.gov

1. Follow the steps to create a Login.gov account.  
   
   
2. Remember to use the same email address used on History Hub when creating your login.gov account. Double check that you have access to that email address.
3. Complete all the steps to create and confirm your new Login.gov account.
4. Return to History Hub. On the History Hub Sign-In page, click the Login.gov link:
   
   
   
5. Sign in to your new Login.gov account:
   
   
   
6. Login.gov will return you to History Hub.

Option 2: I have an existing History Hub account and an existing Login.gov account using the same email address

If you use the same email address* for both History Hub and Login.gov, these accounts should link up automatically when you login to History Hub through Login.gov for the first time.  (*See Option 2b if you use different email addresses for History Hub and Login.gov)

1. On the History Hub Sign-In page, click the Login.gov link:
   
   
   
2. Sign in to your Login.gov account:
   
   
   
3. Login.gov will return you to History Hub.

Option 2b: I have an existing History Hub account and an existing Login.gov account using different email addresses

1. *If your History Hub and Login.gov accounts are using different email addresses, please contact us at: HistoryHub@nara.gov  

Option 3: I am new to History Hub but have an existing Login.gov account

1. On the History Hub Sign-In page, click the Login.gov link:
   
   
2. Sign in to your Login.gov account.
3. Login.gov will return you to History Hub
4. Agree to History Hub’s Terms and Conditions
5. Enter a Display Name for your History Hub account (this can be changed at any time under your account profile).
   
   

Option 4: I am new to History Hub and new to Login.gov 

1. On the History Hub Sign-In page, click the Login.gov link:
2. On the Login.gov page, select the option “Create an Account”
   
   
   
3. Follow the remaining steps to create and verify your Login.gov account. (How to create a Login.gov account.)
4. Login.gov will return you to History Hub
5. Agree to History Hub’s Terms and Conditions
6. Enter a Display Name for your History Hub account (this can be changed at any time under your account profile).
