I think I know the answer but I have come across many 2 page transcriptions where the left page is either sideways or follows the right. I was taught to transcribe the left page first no matter what. Is that still the case? Unfortunately, I have been editing many pages to change the order of transcription. I posted an example below before I have… (Show more)

I've begun reviewing Alice Stone Blackwell's Class notes—almost 300 pages in four documents in identical page-numbered notebooks.  All pages are formatted the same way with text and marginalia in the same handwriting on every page.  The marginalia appears to be exact phrasing or paraphrasing of key points, or questions, each placed  approximately… (Show more)

I was once told that you can track how much time we spend transcribing. Assuming that is true, can you also track how accurate we are in our transcriptions? I realize that this is unlikely but I would be curious as to how accurate I am, as a way to improve my performance.   Thanks, Henry

Normally brackets mean a deletion so how should we transcribe that, as brackets or parantheses or another suggestion?   Thanks, Henry  … (Show more)

I feel that at least getting the names  transcribed is more important than some of the other words. One of the tactics I use is to look at adjacent documents to see if a name is also used there and has possibly… (Show more)

The letter I'm transcribing refers to "Mrs. Howe." I'm fairly certain this refers to Julia Ward Howe, and I wanted to enter her full name in a tag. Do I somehow indicate in the text that her full name is typed in a tag? Thanks
