The title pretty much explains the question.
I am trying to untangle the story of my great grandfather. The only hard evidence I have besides DNA of him being Native American (probably Pueblo) is that he was sent to an Indian boarding school, Chilocco. I found a record online for that.
He and a brother ended up in cities (Bay Area and Chicago) associated with the Navajo-Hopi and Indian Relocation Programs. I'm curious to find out if their moves were part of the program. So many New Mexicans went to Southern California (including other family members), I always thought it odd where they went. (I say this acknowledging that LA was also a destination of the program, my point is if they were just following the movement of family, it wouldn't have been to those cities).
I'm also curious if there were other programs like that before the 1950s?
