I'm trying to go on the dawes roll list and I don't have a clue how

 The Final Rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes, 1899&ndash;1914 , also known as the Dawes Rolls, are digitized in the National Archives Catalog. The rolls are arranged by tribe (Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, and Seminole) and then by group (e.g., Citizens by Blood, Citizens by Marriage, Freedmen). 
 In the National Archives Catalog, you can browse the Dawes Rolls by tribe and group, or you can check the Index to the Final Rolls of Citizens and Freedmen of the Five Civilized Tribes in Indian Territory for a person's name. The index provides a person's tribe, group, and roll number, which you can use to find their entry on the actual rolls. 
 The Dawes Rolls are also digitized on other websites, some of which allow you to search the rolls by name and keyword. You can check Microfilm Publications and Original Records Digitized by Our Digitization Partners for a select list of websites that feature the Dawes Rolls.

 We searched the National Archives Catalog and located the Applications for Enrollment in the Five Civilized Tribes, 1898 - 1914 (also known as the Dawes Rolls) in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Record Group 75) that may include a listing for Irene Powell in the Cherokee Tribe. Most of these records have been digitized and are available using the Catalog and other third-party websites. For more information about these records, please contact the National Archives at Fort Worth (RRFF) at ftworth.archives@nara.gov . 
 
 When embarking on Native American genealogy, please note that the records in the custody of NARA often only detail those living on the reservations or being administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. NARA does not have a list of everyone with Native American heritage; the U.S. government never maintained such a list. We only have historical records that federal agencies like the Bureau of Indian Affairs created to document enrolled members of federally recognized tribes. If an ancestor was Native American and left the reservation or did not have interaction with the United States Government as such, they will not be recorded in NARA&rsquo;s records and tracing their genealogy may be difficult. 
 If she was not formally affiliated with a federally recognized tribe, then she might still appear in the decennial census as an "Indian," if she was recorded as such.
