I am in need of the deck logs for the USS Adroit 509 from October of 1971 through August of 1975. .

 For October through December of 1971, the Deck Logs have not yet been added to the catalog, as post-1970 Deck Logs may contain instances of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and need to be reviewed and redacted in accordance with FOIA exemption (b)(6). Once the Deck Log has been redacted the digital images will be added to our online Catalog. We have prioritized the deck logs you have requested for upload; however, we can provide no specific estimates as to when these log books will be available in the National Archives Catalog. 
 
 While we have added the requested Deck Log to our queue, due to our current backlog of redaction requests we are unable to provide specific details, estimations, or time tables on when the requested log will be made available on our online catalog. The current quantity of requests has greatly increased our backlog resulting in a substantial delay from time of request until upload on our Catalog. We recommend periodically checking the Catalog for new uploads. Please note there may be a significant delay due to our volume of requested deck logs. 
 
 If you are requesting U.S Navy Deck Logs in relation to a VA Claim, the VA may be able to provide direct assistance with information relating to deck logs. The Department of Veterans Affairs maintains the original set of the U.S. Navy Deck Log digital images for the years 1956 through 1978. Additionally, the Department of Veterans Affairs' Military Records Research Center (MRRC) maintains representatives onsite at the National Archives. These representatives can perform research in relation to Veterans Affairs claims. Veterans or their next-of-kin will need to submit their deck log research and review requests through their VA representative or claims processor. The VA claims processor can work with their Research Coordinators (ROs) to submit research requests to the VA's Military Records Research Center (MRRC).
