Thank you for posting on the History Hub!

This is in response to your inquiry to the National Archives related to Marine Corps records of your great uncle.

Your great uncle's Official Military Personnel File (OMPF), which includes his DD-214 that lists his dates and ships or units of assignment, can be obtained from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis, MO using the attached SF-180.You may apply online at http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/ or send in your request via postal mail. You can check “other” and write-in “all files in his OMPF”.

His units and dates of assignment are listed under “station or vessel” in your attached images. Most RG 127 Marine Corps records for WWII are in the geographic files, which are organized by campaign, or in the ground combat units records or aerial squadron records.

As part of our on-going commitment to preserve our records, the National Archives has entered into partnership with Ancestry.com to digitize some of NARA's holdings. Digitized records include Muster Rolls/Personnel Diaries of U.S. Marine Corp units from 1798 through 1958. These records are now available in digital form and can be viewed online via  http://www.ancestry.com. There may be a fee for this service. Or you may view these records online at one of NARA's facilities for free via ALIC. For the nearest NARA location, please consult our web page at http://www.archives.gov/locations/. Additionally, you may check with your local public or university library as these institutions often provide access to Ancestry.com.

To locate the Activity Number for the requested ship/station/unit, please review the Activity Number Indexes on our Online Catalog at https://catalog.archives.gov/id/94533204

We invite you to continue the conversation with community members on History Hub, but should you have follow up questions for the staff at Archives II, please email us at archives2reference@nara.gov so that we can assist you further.

We hope this assists you with your research!
